WILMINGTON, N.C. --- Tommy Richter (Wayne, Pa.) went 3-for-4 with an RBI and
Griffin McLarty (Buckner, Ky.) struck out six in three scoreless innings of relief, but it was not enough as the College of Charleston baseball team's run in the Colonial Athletic Association Championship came to an end on Friday evening against top seeded Northeastern, 8-5.

Richter paced the Cougars with three hits, including a double, while driving in one to end the campaign with a team-best .363 batting average.
Ereven Roper (Easley, S.C.),
Logan McRae (Florence, S.C.), and
Bradley Dixon (Greenwood, S.C.) each collected an RBI, with Dixon's coming on his first home run of the season in the fourth inning.
Dupree Hart (Rock Hill, S.C.) scored two of the Cougars' five runs.
Clay Hunt (Fort Mill, S.C.) got the nod and pitched into the fourth, allowing four runs on seven hits and striking out one to take his first loss of the season.
Justin Baker (Huntersville, N.C.) surrendered three earned runs and struck out four in three innings of work; McLarty spun three scoreless frames with six strikeouts.
For Roper, he closes out a storybook career at The College. Over his four-year tenure with the Cougars, Roper appeared in 194 games – including 171 starts – while totaling 187 hits, 89 runs scored, 39 doubles, 15 home runs, and 101 RBIs. The Easley, S.C. native posted career-highs in nearly every category this season, batting .285 with 33 runs scored, 15 doubles, one triple, seven home runs and 37 RBIs. Earlier this spring, Roper was honored with he prestigious J. Stewart Walker Cup, which is the highest award given by the athletics department to a deserving student-athlete.
Scott Holzwasser and Jimmy Hand each drove in two runs, as four Huskies posted multi-hit games. Charlie McConnell, Max Burt, and Hand each scored a pair of runs, while Hand hit his sixth home run of the season.
Nate Borges went six and one-third innings to earn the win, allowing two earned runs on five hits and striking out four. Tyler Brown surrendered one unearned run on one hit in two and two-third frames of relief.
The Huskies got on the board with a run in the first to take an early 1-0 lead. After McConnell walked and advanced to third on a single by Holzwasser, Hanley drove in McConnell with a sac fly. Charleston quickly answered in the home half, putting runners on the corners with one out before McRae drove in Hart to even the tally at 1-1. Roper then singled through the right side to score Richter from second to put the Cougars in front, 2-1.
After an RBI single from Michael Geaslen pulled Northeastern even at 2-2 in the second, Hand launched a two-run homer to right in the fourth to put the Huskies ahead, 4-2. Dixon would answer for the Cougars in the home half, tagging a 1-1 pitch for a two-out solo shot to left that halved the margin to 4-3.
Northeastern struck for four runs on two hits and two errors in the sixth, extending the advantage to 5-3 on a fielder's choice by Koppens, before a two-run double from Holzwasser capped the frame and pushed the lead to 8-3.
Charleston began to rally in the seventh, when Hart and Manzo drew back-to-back one-out walks before Richter reached on a hit-by-pitch to load the bases. A wild pitch then allowed Hart to come across, and cut the lead to 8-4, as Manzo and Richter advanced to second and third, respectively. Brown quickly settled down to retire the side on a foul pop up and a fly out to center to strand two in scoring position in the Cougar seventh.
The Cougars started another two-out rally in the ninth after Manzo reached on a throwing error and advanced to second on defensive indifference. Richter then dropped a single into center to score Manzo, and cut the lead to 8-5 before the Huskies closed out the win with a force at second.
