Cougars Set for CAA Championships in Delaware
5/4/2017 4:30:00 PM | Women's Track & Field
CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston track & field program heads northward this weekend, when it will put everything on the line at the CAA Championships hosted by the University of Delaware at the Stewart and Suzanne Grant Stadium.
The meet will run from Friday to Saturday, with events beginning at 10 a.m. on both days. Mother Nature is expected to play a major role, with rain expected throughout the meet.
The Cougars have never before traveled to Delaware for track & field, having competed at conference championships hosted by James Madison, William & Mary and Elon since joining the CAA prior to the 2014 season. In fact, the program has never headed this far North during the outdoor season.
Julisa Tindall, the two-year reigning CAA high jump champion, returns to the CAA Championships looking for her third crown in a row. Nicole Lane also comes back for the program after scoring points for the College in the javelin throw last year. The Cougars also return all three heptathletes (Jenny Martin, Sarah Lynch, Julia Petruch) who scored for the program in the multis last season. They, as well as the 17 other athletes who made the journey to Delaware, will look to help the Cougars mix it up in the standings.
Friday will begin with the javelin throw and the heptathlon's 100m hurdles, both of which kick off at 10 a.m. Action will resume through the day, and conclude with the 10000m run, which begins at 6 p.m.
