CofC Tennis Tabs Stone as New Men’s and Women’s Assistant Coach

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston tennis program made an addition to its coaching staff for 2017, announcing Robb Stone as the new men's and women's assistant coach. He replaces Oliver Reynolds, who went on to become the head men's and women's tennis coach at Washington College.
"Robb is everything we were looking for in an assistant," Director of Tennis Angelo Anastopoulo said. "He's enthusiastic, has a great tennis knowledge, and he's a lot of fun to be around. He will definitely help us progress to the next level. Robb and his wonderful wife Carrie are the perfect addition to our program."
Stone most recently worked as a high-performance tennis coach at the MW Tennis Academy on Daniel Island. Prior to that, he spent two years as a volunteer assistant for the University of Colorado.
"I love Charleston," Stone said. "I've been all over the country, but this is where I really consider my hometown. I've worked with a lot of people in my career who have come through the College of Charleston, played for Angelo and Jay, and they've spoken very highly of them. The College has so many great traditions, and I think I was really drawn to the great facilities and this legacy of winning that's been established here. I'm so excited for the opportunity to come in and help this program win their conference, and I can't wait to get to work."
Stone graduated with honors from Nebraska Law School in 2009, and is still a licensed to practice law in the state of Texas. Before that, he served as the Director of Competitive Tennis at the Midland Community Tennis Center in Midland, Mich., where he helped approximately 80% of his attendees over a five-year period go on to play collegiate tennis.
After graduating from Iowa State in 1998, Stone's first foray into tennis coaching was at the Bollettieri Tennis Academy, where he worked with Maria Sharapova among others. After a year, he was promoted to head coach, where he oversaw the 13-17 ITF girls, two of whom went on to earn Top 25 world rankings as pros.
