VAIL, Colo. – College of Charleston junior Anna Buchanan (Athens, Ga.) fired a career-low, 3-under par 69 in the final round of the Golfweek Conference Challenge held at the Red Sky Golf Club on Wednesday.
It marked lowest round of the tournament for the Cougars as Buchanan, a transfer from Samford, made seven birdies – three on the front nine and four on the back nine. She tied for 68th with a three-round score of 230 (+14) along with senior Josefine Garton (Linkoping, Sweden), who shot a 2-over 74 on the final day.
Sophomore Victoria Huskey (Greenville, S.C.) was CofC's top finisher tied for 55th (+12). The Cougars finished 17th overall with a three-round score of 928, while host Denver won the tournament title with an 872 (+8) – two strokes better than runner-up Pepperdine with an 874 (+10).
"Anna had a great round today," CofC Head Coach Jamie Futrell said. "She hit it well all week and finally had some putts drop today. Overall, while not happy with our finish, I am pleased to see that we got better each day. We have a week to get ready for Pinehurst and I think we will play well there."
The Cougars will host the Pinehurst Challenge at the Pinehurst Resort's No. 1 course on Oct. 9-10 in Pinehurst, N.C.
