Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Cougars Fall on the Road to Northeastern

BOSTON – The College of Charleston women's basketball team (5-11, 1-4) struggled to find an offensive rhythm all night in the Cabot Center Friday, as Northeastern (8-8, 3-2) was able to prevail by way of a 59-37 win.

• The Cougars' strongest period was the second quarter, when they drew even with the Huskies 13-13. CofC put three points on the board when Bryanna Goodson stepped into a triple, and Tanisha Brown scooped and scored to even the score at 18-18 with three to play in the half, but Northeastern would use the next eight minutes to peel off a 19-2 run that ultimately sealed the Cougars' fate.

Dee Heath came off the bench for a spark in the second half, providing the Cougars with five points on 2 of 3 shooting to establish a new career-high for the sophomore from Hanahan. Bri Sullivan also had a career-night for the second time in three games, pulling down a team and career-best eight rebounds.

• The College shot 30.8% from the field, and were only able to force their way to the line for six attempts. That was a big difference in the game, as the Huskies were able to shoot over 40% and went 10 of 14 from the stripe.

The Cougars will look to bounce back on Sunday when they conclude their road-trip in Hempstead, N.Y. against the Hofstra Pride.
