CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's basketball team (5-14, 1-7) couldn't pull off the season-sweep of Towson (8-11, 3-5) on Sunday, as the Tigers avenged their loss earlier this year by way of a 83-58 win in TD Arena.
•
Cailin Dorsey achieved a career-high for the second game in a row, scoring 12 points to go with three boards, two assists and two steals.
Deja Ford was the team's high scorer with 16 points on 7 of 7 from the line, while
Tanisha Brown pulled down a team-best 11 rebounds.
Bri Sullivan recorded a career-high two blocks, one of which was an emphatic rejection to send the game into its first media timeout.
• The Cougars and Tigers battled back and forth through the first quarter, by the end of which three CofC players had gotten themselves on the scoreboard. After establishing a 16-14 lead after the opening ten minutes, Towson took advantage with a 13-2 run in the second to firmly take advantage for the rest of the game.
• Towson shot poorly in the first half, but were able to stay in the game with active work on the glass. With 19 offensive rebounds in the opening half, the Tigers finished the game with the 50-39 rebounding advantage. Mary Cuevas (21-12) and Raine Bankston (23-9) led the way, and were two of four Towson players to pull down at least eight rebounds.
The Cougars return to the road next weekend, and will square off against William & Mary and Towson.
