PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – The College of Charleston women's golf team shot a three-round score of 881 (+17) to tie Coastal Carolina as runner-up of the BUBBA burger Jacksonville Classic held at the Marsh Landing Country Club.
The Cougars shot the second-lowest round of the day, but Nova Southeastern claimed the team title with an 11-over 875. It was the second-straight week that CofC finished in the Top 3 or better.
Sophomore Olivia Hamilton (Oakenshaw, England) and junior Anna-Theresa Rottluff (Dusseldorf, Germany) both tied for fourth individually shooting 2-over for the tournament. Rottluff moved up seven spots on the leaderboard on Tuesday with an even-par round and birdies on the 5th, 6th and 17th.
"Another golf tournament for us," CofC Head Coach Jamie Futrell said. "We played well just not well enough to win the championship. Congratulations to Olivia and Anna on the great finishes this week."
Sophomore Jodee Tindal (Rock Hill, S.C.) also finished in the Top 10 in a three-way tie for eighth at +3. She was the only Charleston player to shoot under par for the tournament with a second-round 69. Junior Savanah Goodman (Easley, S.C.) turned in a career-best finish tied for 13th (+5).
The Cougars, who are receiving votes in this week's Division I WGCA Coaches Poll, will have a couple of days off before hosting the 2018 Pinehurst Challenge on Oct. 8-9 at the Pinehurst Resort's No. 6 course in Pinehurst, N.C.
