CHARLESTON, S.C. – The 20th edition of the Pinehurst Challenge hosted by the College of Charleston gets underway on Oct. 8-9 at the Pinehurst Resort's No. 6 course in Pinehurst, N.C.
For the sixth time in the tournament's history and first time since 2013, the Cougars will host on the par-72, 6,040-yard course at the resort.
This year's tournament field includes 16 other teams vying for the Putter Boy trophy in Bucknell, Charleston Southern, Elon, Georgia State, High Point, Jacksonville, Jacksonville State, James Madison, North Florida, Presbyterian, Richmond, Samford, Stetson, Towson, UNCG and William & Mary.
"It is great to be back at Pinehurst," CofC Head Coach Jamie Futrell said. "The team is playing well this fall and we look forward to keeping that good play going through this week. We have been in contention the last two weeks, and hopefully, we can knock the door down and win one this week."
Coming off a second-place finish at the Jacksonville Classic, the Cougars will start junior Anna-Theresa Rottluff (Dusseldorf, Germany), sophomore Olivia Hamilton (Oakenshaw, England), sophomore Jodee Tindal (Rock Hill, S.C.), junior Victoria Huskey (Greenville, S.C.) and senior Isi Nilsson (Santiago, Chile).
Junior Savanah Goodman (Easley, S.C.) and sophomore Clarissa von Stosch (Kassel, Germany) will compete as individuals in the 92-player field. Teams will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday.
Rottluff, the reigning Colonial Athletic Association Women's Golfer of the Week, continued her great play last week with a tie for fourth in Jacksonville along with Hamilton, who competed on CofC's "B" squad at the tournament. Rottluff shot rounds of 71, 75 and 72, while Hamilton shot 70, 73 and 75. Tindal also had a Top-10 finish finishing eighth after shooting 77-69-73. As a team, the Cougars tied Coastal Carolina for runner-up honors.
Each group will play in foursomes and CofC will be paired with Georgia State, UNF and Richmond in the opening two rounds. Both days of tournament play will be a shotgun start – Monday at 8:30 a.m. (ET) and Tuesday at 8:45 a.m. (ET). Live tournament scoring will be available at: www.Golfstat.com
