Cougars Look To Finish Fall Season In Style at Palmetto Intercollegiate

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's golf team looks to turn in another strong finish as it closes out its fall tournament season hosting the 2018 Palmetto Intercollegiate on Oct. 21-23 at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort's Turtle Point course on Kiawah Island, S.C.
 
For the fifth time in the history of the tournament, which began in 1999, the par-72, 6,005-yard Turtle Point course will serve as host site.
 
CofC will field an "A" and "B" squad in the 18-team, 93-player field. Starting for the Cougars will be junior Victoria Huskey (Greenville, S.C.), junior Anna-Theresa Rottluff (Dusseldorf, Germany), sophomore Jodee Tindal (Rock Hill, S.C.), sophomore Olivia Hamilton (Oakenshaw, England) and sophomore Clarissa von Stosch (Kassel, Germany).
 
Campbell, Charleston Southern, Charlotte, Daytona State College, Eastern Kentucky, Elon, Jacksonville State, Kansas, Marshall, North Florida, UNCG, Troy, Western Carolina, Wichita State, Winthrop and Xavier will also vie for the tournament title.
 
The Cougars are currently ranked No. 35 in the nation in the latest Golfstat Rankings. They finished runner-up at the Jacksonville Classic on Oct. 2 (Tied for 2nd) and Pinehurst Challenge on Oct. 9 (2nd).
 
"We look forward to competing against some very good teams on a great golf course this week," CofC Head Coach Jamie Futrell said. "The team has had an outstanding run this fall, and hopefully, we will finish it off in style this weekend."
 
Junior Savanah Goodman (Easley, S.C.), senior Isi Nilsson (Santiago, Chile), sophomore Chloe Currie (Mississauga, Ontario, Canada), senior Anna Buchanan (Athens, Ga.) and freshman Kirsty Brodie (Blairgowrie, Scotland) will compete on the Cougars' "B" team, while junior Yuki Nakayama (Kawasaki, Japan) as an individual.
 
Ole Miss won last year's tournament title with a three-round score of 883 (+19) followed by runner-up Kennesaw State (+27) and third-place Campbell (+29). Diane Lim of Ole Miss was last year's individual medalist (-3) finishing one-stroke ahead of Mikayla Fitzpatrick of Xavier (-2).
 
Sunday's First Round and Monday's Second Round will be split tee times of the No. 1 and No. 10 between 9:30 a.m. – 11:40 a.m. (ET). Tuesday's Final Round will be a 9:00 a.m. (ET) shotgun start.
