Charleston Drops Decision at Wofford, Moves to 2-2 On The Season

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – A cold shooting period in the second and third quarters saw the College of Charleston women's basketball team fall 78-58 on the road at Wofford on Sunday afternoon. Darien Huff and Tyler Collins grabbed 11 points each to lead the Cougars offense with Arynn Eady grabbing 8 rebounds.

Huff and Deja Ford hit threes early in the first period to help Charleston race to a 10-4 lead. Wofford battled back to tie the game up at 15-15 until a Ford three-pointer gave Charleston a three-point lead at the first media timeout.

From there the Cougars offense went cold. A six minutes spell without a basket was finally ended by Ericka Broughton with a free throw. Eady scored from the field with a layup as she went 3-4 from her last four shots to try and spark Charleston into life.

Baileigh Larson tipped a Wofford shot and hit the jumper in transition to cut the Terrier lead to 33-27, the Cougars closing out the half by limiting Wofford to 1-9 from the field.

A Terrier's 7-0 run early in the third pushed their lead to 15, a pair of Huff free throws cut it to 44-31.

Charleston then used their own 5-0 run to eat into the lead and try spark a comeback, but the Terriers ended the third period with a layup and three-pointer to push their lead back to 17.

After opening the game shooting 44% from the field and 80% from deep, a 21% and 25% second and third quarters stopped the Charleston offense from getting into a rhythm.

Charleston moves to 2-2 on the season and now take a six-day break before facing Furman on Nov. 24. The game is set for a 2 p.m. tipoff at TD Arena, the home of Charleston women's basketball.
