
Riller On Preseason Lute Olson Award Watch List

BOSTON, Mass. – College of Charleston 6-foot-3 junior guard Grant Riller (Orlando, Fla.) was named to the preseason 2018-19 Lute Olson Award Watch List on Monday.
He currently ranks 26th all-time in career scoring with 1,217 points to date and was also tabbed Colonial Athletic Association Men's Basketball Co-Player of the Week for the second time this season and fifth time of his career on Monday.
Riller averaged a team-leading 23.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 6.7 assists and 1.3 steals and earned all-tournament team honors as the Cougars posted a 2-1 mark at the AdvoCare Invitational against No. 19 LSU, UAB and Memphis over the Thanksgiving holiday break in Orlando, Fla.
He also recorded back-to-back 30-point outings for the first time of his career as he scored the second-most points in a single game with a game-high 33 points on 13-of-17 shooting from the floor, six rebounds and six assists in a 74-51 rout of UAB on Nov. 23 and followed with a game-high 32 points, five rebounds and a career-high nine assists in a 78-75 victory over Memphis on Nov. 25.
The Lute Olson Award is presented annually to the nation's top NCAA Division I player in college basketball. Incoming freshman and transfers are not eligible for the preseason watch list.
Lute Olson won 780 games in 34 seasons, 24 of which were spent at the University of Arizona. During that stretch, he led the Wildcats to 11 Pac-10 Conference titles, 23 consecutive NCAA Tournaments, four Final Four appearances and a National Championship in 1997.
The 2019 Lute Olson Award will be presented at the CollegeInsider.com awards event in April at the site of the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball National Championship in Minneapolis, Minn.
