CHARLESTON, S.C. – Darien Huff hit double-digits for the sixth straight game, but the College of Charleston women's basketball team fell 71-64 to Winthrop to move to 2-4 on the season.

Both teams started slowly from the field, struggling to find an offense rhythm. Huff and Baileigh Larson grabbing a basket each as Charleston trailed 6-4 at the first media timeout.
 
Huff quickly pushed her total to eight points, going 2-3 from beyond the arc. A pair of free throws pushing her to double digits for her sixth straight double-digit scoring performance through the opening six games.

A 6-0 run to open the second period pushed the Charleston lead to double digits until the Winthrop offense found its stride. A 10-point run by the Eagles cut Charleston's lead to 28-25; a pair of Bri Sullivan free throws pushed it back to five.
 
Winthrop opened the third with two straight baskets, another two points from the charity stripe giving them their first lead since midway through the first period.

The Eagles kept a five-point lead until midway through the fourth, Deja Ford and Latrice Perkins cutting it back to one.

Winthrop hit a three with the teams then exchanging baskets; Charleston making five straight to force an Eagles timeout with three minutes remaining.  

The teams again went back and forth through the final exchanges with Winthrop icing the game with free throws to take the 71-64 victory.

The College now look to two straight road games to open December beginning on Sunday at Appalachian State in Boone, N.C.
