CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's tennis team (1-1) will head to Daytona Beach Saturday for a 1 p.m. encounter with Bethune-Cookman (0-1) at City Island Tennis Courts.
The Cougars split their opening weekend of play, defeating Gardner-Webb 6-1 before falling to Wake Forest. Turner Yates and Anastasia Palaska both picked up wins in singles and doubles play against the Runnin' Bulldogs, while Helena Nyikos represented the Maroon and White in top flight singles play with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Sandra Bolstad.
CofC has never previously encountered the Wildcats in women's tennis. Bethune-Cookman comes off a 9-11 year in 2016-17, a season that saw them fall 4-3 to Morgan State in the opening round of the MEAC Tournament. Canadian senior Matea Roki is the team's top returner, having gone 13-6 in second and third flight singles play last season.
