CHARLESTON, S.C. – Due to impending poor weather conditions in the Lowcountry, the College of Charleston men's tennis team's home opener against Stetson has been canceled, and will not be rescheduled.
CofC's home opener will now take place next Saturday the 17th, when the Cougars host SC State.
In the meantime, the Cougars scheduled match this Saturday at Furman will still take place at noon as scheduled, however the match will likely move indoors to the Mickel Tennis Center.
The College is a perfect 2-0 on the year with a pair of wins over Bethune-Cookman and Florida A&M. Both Juan Estevarena in flight one and Ksawery Pociej have been perfect in singles play thus far this season to lead the Cougars at the top of the order.
CofC hasn't encountered the Paladins since their days as SoCON rivals. Prior to leaving for the CAA after the 2013 season, head coach Jay Bruner's program had peeled off four straight wins against Furman.
The Paladins are 3-1 on the season this year with narrow wins over Florida Atlantic, North Florida and Presbyterian. The Cougars will be the first of two opponents for Furman on Saturday, as FU will go on to host North Greenville later in the day. Cameron Green is the team's ace from the flight one position, while Jake Munns is undefeated in flight two play so far this year.
