Rourke, Wondrack Lift Cougars To 3-0 Shutout Of Eagles

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. --- Brian Rourke (Germantown, Md.) scattered four hits and struck out five across seven shutout innings, and Danny Wondrack (Wall, N.J.) posted his first career multi-home run game to lead the College of Charleston to a 3-0 win over Georgia Southern on Wednesday evening at Patriots Point.

The win marks the fourth consecutive victory for College of Charleston (7-2), and the third shutout of the season for the Cougars. Charleston plated three runs on seven hits – including a trio for extra bases – while holding Georgia Southern (5-4) scoreless on just five hits. Wondrack paced the offense with two solo home runs, while Dupree Hart (Rock Hill, S.C.) extended his hitting streak to eight games with an RBI single in the seventh.

Rourke delivered a masterful performance on the mound with seven shutout innings. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound right-hander scattered four hits, struck out five, and did not issue a walk to pick up his first win at The College. Nathan Ocker (Middleton, Pa.) struck out four in two innings of work to record his second save of the season.

Steven Curry, Jason Swan, Seth Shuman, and Nolan Tressler each recorded a hit for the Eagles. Zach Strickland surrendered just one run over five innings to take the loss, while Lawson Humphries, Hayden Harris, and Eric Goldstein combined to allow two runs – one earned – over the final three innings.

The Cougars will return to the diamond on Friday when they welcome Georgia to Patriots Point for the first of a three-game weekend series. First pitch is slated for 6:00 pm.
