CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's golf team opens the spring season at the UCF Challenge on Feb. 4-6 at the par-72 Eagle Creek Golf Club in Orlando, Fla.
The course will play at 6,349 yards. Hosted by UCF, the 16-team field is comprised of CofC, SMU, East Carolina, Auburn, Vanderbilt, Iowa State, Texas Tech, Penn State, Miami (Fla.), Mississippi State, Wisconsin, Tulane, Memphis, UNCW and Old Dominion.
Junior Isi Nilsson (Santiago, Chile), a transfer from South Carolina, will make her Cougar debut in the starting lineup with sophomore Victoria Huskey (Greenville, S.C.), freshman Olivia Hamilton (Oakenshaw, England), senior Josefine Garton (Linkoping, Sweden) and sophomore Anna-Theresa Rottluff (Dusseldorf, Germany).
Huskey led the Cougars in the fall season with five tournament starts and a team-best 76.33 stroke average.
"We are definitely challenging ourselves early with such a strong tournament," CofC Head Coach Jamie Futrell said. "It will show us where we are at as a team as many of these teams will be in the NCAAs this May. We have had a great start to practice and look forward to seeing how it translates onto the course in a tournament. We are also very excited to have Isi at the top of our lineup. She should add some firepower and consistency to our lineup this spring."
