
Cougars Host Final Tournament Of The Season at The Golf Club at Briar's Creek

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's golf team gets back into action hosting its final tournament of the season – the sixth annual Briar's Creek Invitational on March 19-20 at The Golf Club at Briar's Creek on Johns Island, S.C.
The Cougars are coming off a tournament win at the 53-team Edwin Watts / Kiawah Island Spring Classic on Feb. 27 at Osprey Point at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort. This week, they will start junior Isi Nilsson (Santiago, Chile), sophomore Victoria Huskey (Greenville, S.C.), freshman Olivia Hamilton (Oakenshaw, England), senior Josefine Garton (Linkoping, Sweden) and sophomore Anna-Theresa Rottluff (Dusseldorf, Germany).
CofC will also have a "B" team competing comprised of freshman Clarissa von Stosch (Kassel, Germany), junior Anna Buchanan (Athens, Ga.), sophomore Savanah Goodman (Easley, S.C.), freshman Chloe Currie (Mississauga, Ontario, Canada) and sophomore Yuki Nakayama (Kawasaki, Japan).
The par-72, private golf community and course designed by Rees Jones will play at 6,101 yards. Four Top-50 ranked teams comprise this year's 16-team field including No. 23-ranked Illinois.
Boston College, No. 40 Campbell, host CofC, Charleston Southern, Coastal Carolina, No. 37 East Carolina, Georgetown, Illinois, Kansas, Maryland, No. 29 North Carolina, Old Dominion, Penn State, South Florida, Texas Tech and UNC Asheville round out the field.
Last year, Florida won the team title for the third year in a row carding a new tournament-low 54-hole total of 849 (-15). Maria Torres of Florida won individual medalist honors with a final-round 69 to seal the three-stroke victory (-7).
The tournament format includes 36 holes of continuous play on Monday with an 8:30 a.m. (ET) shotgun start and Tuesday's final round an 8:45 a.m. (ET) shotgun start.
The Cougars will be paired with UNC and ECU in the first round and tee-off the No. 1 beginning at 8:30 a.m. (ET). Live tournament scoring will be available at: www.Golfstat.com
