Pair of Top-Five Finishes Highlights Strong Weekend For Cougars

ST. MARY'S, Md. --- Alie Toppa (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) and Annabel Carrington (White Stone, Va.) finished three points out of first place in A-Division at the St. Mary's Women's to help the College of Charleston sailing team to a second-place finish, as the Cougars also placed fifth at the Graham Hall Team Race to cap a successful weekend.
The Cougars accumulated 88 points to finish three behind Boston College at the St. Mary's Women's, as Alie Toppa and Carrington placed second in A-Division with 46 points. Paris Henken (Coronado, Calif.) and Liza Toppa finished third in B-Division with 42 points.
At the Graham Hall Team Race, the Cougars finished the weekend with a 12-8 record. Skippers Christophe Killian (Newport Beach, Calif.), Augie Dale (Pewaukee, Wis.), and Stefano Peschiera (Lima, Peru) represented the Cougars alongside crew of Elizabeth Pemberton (Osterville, Mass.), Katie Lounsbury (Jensen Beach, Fla.), and Grace McCarthy (San Diego, Calif.). The Cougars posted a 10-5 record in round one to enter round two tied for fifth, and finished with the 2-3 mark in the final six.
Charleston returns to action next weekend with three regattas on the schedule: Spring Harbor Race on Saturday, March 24 at the J. Stewart Walker Sailing Complex, the Szambecki Team Race on Saturday and Sunday in Norfolk, Va., and the Seahawk Team Race Invite on Saturday and Sunday in St. Mary's, Md.
