Women's Tennis Trounces Tigers 7-0

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's tennis team (8-3) completed the season sweep of Savannah State on Saturday, defeating the Tigers (0-5) 7-0.
The Cougars jumped out to a quick 6-0 decision on court two of doubles play. The classic tandem of Sarah Jane Jones and Sarah Zschunke clinched the point on court three with a 6-3 win on court one, resulting in a CofC sweep on all three courts to set the tone for singles play.
Christi Woodson on court two and Turner Yates on court five each displayed a killer instinct in their matches, with each competitor sweeping to 6-0, 6-0 wins to put CofC on the brink. Helena Nyikos sealed the match moments later when she defeated Sofia Shut'ko 6-0, 6-2 in flight one action.
Also securing wins for the Cougars, Ava Turner defeated Shakendra Alston 6-2, 6-1 on court six, Rachel McNeely rolled past Muskaan Ranjan 6-0, 6-1, and Catalina Medici knocked off Sansriti Ranjan 6-2, 6-1 on court four.
The College continues their home-stand on Tuesday when they host Providence.
