RALEIGH, N.C. – College of Charleston sophomore Hunter Dunagan (Augusta, Ga.) shot even par to pace the men's golf team on the first day of the 2018 Colonial Athletic Association Men's Golf Championship held Friday at the Lonnie Poole Golf Course.
Dunagan is in fourth - three strokes back of current individual leader Walker Cress of James Madison (-3).
Sophomores Michael Sass (Louisville, Ky.) and Logan Sowell (Kershaw, S.C.) are both tied for 10th after shooting a first-round 75.
As a team, the Cougars are in fourth (+13) behind current leader JMU (+2), second-place UNCW (+10) and third-place Drexel (+12).
"It was not our best round of golf today, but we hung in there and made a few birdies coming down the stretch," CofC Head Coach Mark McEntire said. "Great round by Hunter (Dunagan).
"We are 11 shots off the lead with 36 holes left in this championship. Our team has plenty of fire power to make a move up the leaderboard tomorrow and have a chance to win on Sunday."
The Cougars will be paired tomorrow in the second round with Elon and William & Mary and tee-off the No. 1 beginning at 8:54 a.m. (ET). Live tournament scoring will be available at: www.Golfstat.com.
