Newark, Del. – Sarah Bessel produced Delaware's third two-out RBI single of the game in the bottom of the sixth to give the Blue Hens a 3-2 victory over the College of Charleston in the series finale on Sunday.

Taylor DuPree had three hits and an RBI for the Cougars (27-21, 6-9 Colonial Athletic Association), who saw their four-game winning streak come to an end. Delaware snapped a five-game skid and is 11-30 and 3-12 in the CAA.

The Cougars trailed 2-1 in the sixth but tied it on a double by Jordin Jones, a single by Kelly Sinclair and sacrifice bunt by Taylor Belfiore that pushed Jones across. But the Blue Hens answered in their half of the inning when Bessel's base hit brought home Alyshia Dellatore.

Delaware took a 1-0 lead in the first on an RBI single by Anna Steinmetz, and it stayed that way until the teams traded runs in the fifth. DuPree singled in Yari Felix in the top of the inning, and Steinmetz put the Blue Hens back in front with her second RBI of the afternoon.

Izzy Berouty allowed the last two Delaware runs and took the loss in relief while Summer Jenkins allowed four hits and one run over the first four innings. Jordan Cargile tossed a complete game six-hitter for the Blue Hens.

The Cougars return home next weekend for their final home games of the season against Towson. The teams play a doubleheader on Saturday at 2 p.m. and a single game Sunday at noon. Sunday will be Senior Day, with DuPree, Jones and Sara Garcia being honored for their outstanding four-year careers.
