
Cougars Fall to Furman on the Road

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's soccer team fell 2-1 to Furman on Thursday evening in Greenville, S.C.
Charleston started on the front foot with Ana Lesmes having an effort at goal inside the first minute. The shots continued for the Cougars offense with Talia Colchico, Alyssa Beck, Laura Ortega and Lesmes all seeing sights of goal, but only Beck tested the Paladins goalkeeper.
Furman took a 1-0 lead in the 32nd minute with a set-piece ending in a volley into the far-right corner.
The Paladins doubled their lead late in the second half by breaking the Cougars backline and finishing into the right corner.
Mackenzie Crittenberger grabbed her second career goal for Charleston as the game entered the final minutes, Ortega setting her up from a cross, but the Cougars ran out of time with Furman taking the 2-1 victory.
