CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's golf team heads to New England to compete at the Boston College Intercollegiate on Sept. 24-25 at the Blue Hill Country Club in Canton, Mass.
The par-72 course, which plays host to the LPGA TOUR PING/Welch's Championship, will play at 6,137 yards. Seventeen teams comprise the tournament field including host Boston College, Boston University, Albany, Quinnipiac, Richmond, USC Upstate, St. John's, Fairleigh Dickinson, Siena, Hartford, Samford, Western Kentucky, Brown, Sacred Heart, Mount St. Mary's and Holy Cross.
"After a great start to the season at the Cougar Classic, we need to continue the momentum gained into the Boston College Intercollegiate," CofC Head Coach Jamie Futrell said. "This will be our first trip to the Boston area as a team. If we play well, we should be in contention for the championship this weekend. We are looking forward to competing against teams from the Northeast."
Junior Victoria Huskey (Greenville, S.C.), who garnered Colonial Athletic Association Women's Golfer of the Week honors during Week 1, will start alongside junior Anna-Theresa Rottluff (Dusseldorf, Germany), sophomore Olivia Hamilton (Oakenshaw, England), senior Isi Nilsson (Santiago, Chile.) and junior Savanah Goodman (Easley, S.C.). Competing as an individual will be sophomore Jodee Tindal (Rock Hill, S.C.).
The Cougars are coming off a seventh-place finish at the home-hosted Cougar Classic on Sept. 9-10 at Yeamans Hall Club in Hanahan, S.C. They were the only unranked team to finish in the Top 8 of the tournament comprised of seven Top 25-ranked schools.
Thirty-six holes of continuous play will be played on Monday with an 8:45 a.m. (ET) shotgun start, while the final round will be played on Tuesday off the No. 1 and No. 10 tees beginning at 8 a.m. (ET).
CofC will be paired with BC and Western Kentucky in the opening round of play. Live tournament scoring will be available at: www.Golfstat.com
