CHARLESTON, S.C. – There's no stopping the College of Charleston women's golf team as it continues a three-week stretch with consecutive tournaments at the 11th Annual Bubba burger Jacksonville Classic on Oct. 1-2 at the Marsh Landing Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
The par-72 course, which is located across the street from TPC Sawgrass, will play at a distance of 6,051 yards. The tournament starts on Monday with 36 holes of continuous play and then 18 holes on Tuesday.
The Cougars are fresh off a third-place finish at the Boston College Intercollegiate last week where sophomore Jodee Tindal (Rock Hill, S.C.) played as an individual and claimed co-medalist honors. She is the reigning Colonial Athletic Association Women's Golfer of the Week. CofC will follow-up its road trip to Jacksonville by playing host to the 2018 Pinehurst Challenge on Oct. 8-9 at the Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst, N.C.
Tindal and sophomore Clarissa von Stosch (Kassel, Germany) earned the start this week at the JU Classic along with juniors Anna-Theresa Rottluff (Dusseldorf, Germany), Victoria Huskey (Greenville, S.C.) and Savanah Goodman (Easley, S.C.).
"We have had a great start to the year and look to continue that good play this week," CofC Head Coach Jamie Futrell said. "The golf course should setup well for our starting lineup."
CofC will also field a "B" team at the tournament comprised of sophomore Olivia Hamilton (Oakenshaw, England), senior Anna Buchanan (Athens, Ga.), sophomore Chloe Currie (Mississauga, Ontario, Canada), freshman Kirsty Brodie (Blairgowrie, Scotland) and junior Yuki Nakayama (Kawasaki, Japan).
Host Jacksonville University is the defending team champions of the BUBBA burger Jacksonville Classic. The tournament field also includes Coastal Carolina, North Florida, Georgia Southern, USC Upstate, Samford, Daytona State College, Bethune-Cookman, FAU, Lipscomb, Seminole State, Nova Southeastern and Jacksonville State.
The Cougars will be paired with JU and Coastal Carolina in tomorrow's opening round – an 8:30 a.m. (ET) shotgun start off the No. 1 through No. 4 tees. Live tournament scoring will be available at: www.Golfstat.com
