
Cougar Teams Place High at Pirate Invitational

Greenville, N.C. – The College of Charleston women's cross country team finished fifth while the men took seventh at the Pirate Invitational on Friday at Lake Kristi Park.
The women put three runners in the top 30, a trio led by freshman Rhian Purves, who was 24th with a 6K time of 22:18.84. She was followed by Cate Ambrose (28th, 22:23.68) and Tess Masselink (29th, 22:24.50).
Also scoring for the women were Amber Scott (48th, 22:55.80) and Kristen Cherry (50th, 22:58.42). A total of 139 runners completed the race.
Hayden DiBona paced the men for the fourth time in as many races, finishing 24th in a field of 145 runners with an 8K mark of 25:19.02. He was followed in the top five by Sam Beattie (30th, 25:26.43), Jack Wedge (33rd, 25:29.18), Ryan Moosbrugger (44th, 25:44.46) and Evan Peirce (53rd, 26:03.12).
Rounding out the Cougar women were Emily Dorony (23:41.08), Annie D'Amaro (25:12.54), Eileen Vedder (25:12.90), Isabel Muehleman (25:24.48) and Grace McGrew (26:41.98).
Tyler Fish posted a time of 26:40.58 for the men, followed by Kade Gosnell (27:03.44), Will McCann (27:08.50) and Zac Palmer (27:09.11)
The meet was the final one of the regular season. The Cougars head to New Market, Va., for the CAA Championships on November 2.
