
Masselink Earns All-Conference Honors at CAA Championships

New Market, Va. – Tess Masselink took all-conference honors, and Hayden DiBona placed in the Top 20 for the third to lead the College of Charleston cross country teams at the CAA Championships at the New Market Battlefield.
Masselink finished 14th with a 6K time of 21:32.9, the fifth fastest in school history at that distance. She made the all-conference team for the second time in her career after placing second a year ago.
Cate Ambrose was 26th and her time of 21:59.1 ranks 11th in the Cougar record book. Freshman Rhian Purves crossed in 22:14.7 for the 24th-fastest time in school history. Rounding out the women's scorers were Kristen Cherry (40th, 22:19.0) and Emily Dorony (53rd, 22:47.1)
DiBona finished 17th with a time of 25:49.6 in the 8K race. He was on the all-conference team with a seventh-place showing in 2017 and was also 17th in 2016.
Three other Cougar men finished in the Top 30, including Jack Wedge (21st, 26:00.9), Sam Beattie (29th, 26:27.7) and Evan Peirce (30th, 26:33.7). Also scoring was Ryan Moosbrugger, who was 32nd in 26:40.2.
Other runners for the women were Isabel Muehleman (24:33.9), Amber Scott (24:33.0), Eileen Vedder (24:46.1) and Annie D'Amaro (24:53.8). Also competing for the men were Tyler Fish (26:55.2), Zac Palmer (27:54.3), William McCann (27:55.1) and Kade Gosnell (28:13.1).
The Cougars are back in action on November 15 at the NCAA Southeast Regional in Charlottesville, Va.
