Tigers Top Cougars in Sunday Matinee

TOWSON, Md. --- Molly Russell and Kayla Demari combined for nine kills on 15 swings and senior Lauren Freed became the 20th player in program history to reach the 1,000-dig mark for her career as College of Charleston fell to Towson in straight sets on Sunday afternoon in Colonial Athletic Association play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Towson's defense combined for 15 blocks and held the Cougars to a .117 hitting percentage.
  • Four Tigers recorded at least eight kills as Towson compiled 44 kills and a .250 attacking clip.
  • Logan Manusky and Brooke Harris paced all players with 15 and 11 digs respectively.
  • Towson's Marissa Wonders posted a double-double with 37 assists and 10 digs. 
COUGAR OF THE MATCH
Harris came within one assist of her first career double-double with nine assists and a season-high 11 digs off the bench. She recorded five digs in the opening set and four in the second.
 
NOTABLES
  • Freed reached a career milestone with five digs to surpass the 1,000-mark for her career.
  • Manusky led all players with a match-high 15 digs – including 14 through the first two sets.
  • Freshman Tori Carpenter dished out 18 assists to go along with two kills and three digs.
  • Claire Campbell paced the attack with six kills and added two blocks.
  • Russell converted on her first five swings of the match and finished with five kills on eight attempts.
