Cougars Drop Pair on Second Day of Osprey/Dolphin Invitational

Jacksonville, Fla. – The College of Charleston fell to Northern Iowa and North Florida on the second day of the Osprey/Dolphin Invitational.

The opening game of the day saw the Cougars score five times in the fourth to take a 5-1 lead before the Panthers put up a five spot of their own in the sixth to claim a 6-5 victory. Charleston then fell by a score of 5-1 to the host Ospreys to conclude the day.

The Cougars (5-3) wrap up tournament play on Sunday with games against South Dakota State at 10:00 a.m. and co-host Jacksonville at 12:30.

A two-run double by Yari Felix capped the five-run Charleston fourth against Northern Iowa, giving her four RBI so far this weekend. It stayed that way until the sixth when the Panthers got a pair of two-run hits including a game-winning double by Courtney Krodinger.

Felix and Lexee Emanuel both had two hits for the Cougars, and Summer Jenkins  allowed only five hits and one run with two strikeouts in 5.1 innings.

In Saturday's nightcap, North Florida scored a run in the second and built a 4-0 lead in the fourth including a two-run triple by Tiffany Lower. Madi Brown, who had two hits in the game, and Lauren Lozano had back-to-back doubles with two outs in the sixth to produce the lone Cougar run.
