No. 20 Clemson Edges Cougars, 4-1

COLUMBIA, S.C. --- Logan McRae (Florence, S.C.) and Clay Hunt (Fort Mill, S.C.) each collected two hits, and Steven Cook (Westminster, Md.) tossed two shutout innings in relief as the College of Charleston baseball team fell to No. 20 Clemson, 4-1, on Wednesday evening at Segra Park in Columbia, S.C.
 
Clemson (16-5) pushed across four runs on eight hits – including one double – while holding College of Charleston (13-8) to one run on seven singles. The Tigers drew five walks in the contest compared to one for the Cougars.
 
Hunt and McRae both went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles, as Harrison Hawkins (Bishopville, S.C.), Chaz Davey (North Augusta, S.C.), and Danny Wondrack (Wall, N.J.) each added a base knock. Chris Graham (Leland, N.C.) reached via a walk and scored the Cougars' lone run in the third.
 
Zach Williams (Marietta, Ga.) surrendered two runs on three hits and struck out two in three innings to take the loss. Josh Price (Dillion, S.C.) was touched for one run on three hits over three frames, before Cook rebounded with three strikeouts in two scoreless innings. Nathan Ocker (Middletown, Pa.) allowed one run on two hits in the ninth.
 
Bryce Teodosio went 2-for-3 with an RBI to lead the way for Clemson, as Kyle Wilkie, Logan Davidson, and Bo Majkowski each drove in a run. Davis Sharpe added two hits and a run scored in a 2-for-3 effort.
 
Jackson Lindley got the start and lasted three innings for the Tigers, allowing one run on three hits. Travis Marr tossed two scoreless frames to earn the win, as Sam Weatherly, Owen Griffith, and Holt Jones combined for three shutout innings of relief. Carson Spiers surrendered two hits and struck out two in a scoreless ninth to record the save.
 
The Cougars return to the diamond on Friday when they host Elon to open Colonial Athletic Association play. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at Patriots Point.
