CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's golf team will close out its regular-season slate at the Edisto Island Invitational on March 31-April 1 at The Plantation Course at Edisto on Edisto Island, S.C.
The par-71 course will play at a distance of 5,902 yards in the first-year tournament hosted by Charleston Southern. The Cougars are the highest-ranked school (No. 62) in the 16-team field in the latest Golfstat Rankings.
They enter this weekend's competition having beaten five of the Top 50-ranked teams in the nation in their last outing – a tied for fourth-place finish at the CofC-hosted Briar's Creek Invitational on March 19.
Charleston is set to go up against host CSU, Bethune Cookman, The Citadel, Delaware, Elon, James Madison, Morehead State, North Florida, Presbyterian, Seton Hall, USC Upstate, Western Carolina, William & Mary and Xavier, in preparation for the 2019 Colonial Athletic Association Women's Golf Championship on April 12-14 at The Reserve Club at St. James Plantation in Southport, N.C.
"I look forward to seeing how we fare after coming off a great tournament at Briar's Creek," CofC Head Coach Jamie Futrell said. "We will get to see a few conference schools this week as we prepare for conference tournament play in a few weeks."
The Cougars will field two teams at the tournament including their "A" squad comprised of senior Isi Nilsson (Santiago, Chile), junior Victoria Huskey (Greenville, S.C.), junior Anna-Theresa Rottluff (Dusseldorf, Germany), sophomore Jodee Tindal (Rock Hill, S.C.) and sophomore Olivia Hamilton (Oakenshaw, England). Nilsson was recently honored as Colonial Athletic Association Women's Golfer of the Week behind a top finish (Tied for 10th) for the Cougars at the Briar's Creek Invitational.
Junior Savanah Goodman (Easley, S.C.), sophomore Clarissa von Stosch (Kassel, Germany), senior Anna Buchanan (Athens, Ga.), freshman Kirsty Brodie (Blairgowrie, England) and junior Yuki Nakayama (Kawasaki, Japan) will compete on the team's "B" squad.
