
Cougars Fall To Paladins, 6-1

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston men's tennis team fell to former SoCon rivals Furman 6-1, on Wednesday afternoon at Patriots Point with freshman Robby Krick picking up the lone Cougars point in singles play, The College moving to 17-4 on the season with the loss.
The Paladins came out hot in doubles action, knocking off No. 1 pair of Ksawery Pociej and Easton Thomas 6-1, and No. 2 pair of Benedikt Henning and Johnny Wang 6-2. Robby Krick and Ben Cawston seeing their match go unfinished on court three with the score level at 5-5.
With the doubles point secured for Furman, they continued rolling into singles play. Jake Munns dispatching Cawston on court three, 6-2, 6-1, Jake Bhangdia moving past Wang on court four 6-3, 6-0.
Krick got Charleston on the board with a straight sets win on court six, 6-3, 6-4, to cut the deficit to 3-1 with his eighth singles victory of the season. The visitors clinching the match on court one, Ivan Mitric beating Henning 6-3, 7-5, to move Furman into a 4-1 lead.
The Paladins picked up two more singles wins on courts two and five to make the final scoreline 6-1, Charleston falling to 17-4 on the season, 8-3 at Patriots Point, in the loss.
The Cougars now look to a noon matchup on Saturday against Davidson with Friday's matchup against East Carolina cancelled due to the threat of inclement weather with head coach Jay Bruner looking to move the match to Sunday.
