
Charleston Falls in CAA Quarterfinals

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The No. 4 College of Charleston men's tennis team (11-6, 2-1) fell 4-2 to No. 5 Drexel (13-3, 3-2) in the CAA Championship quarterfinals at the Mackesy Tennis Center on Saturday morning.
The Dragons won courts one and three to claim the doubles point and take a 1-0 advantage into singles.
Jake Smith swept his opponent without losing a game on court four to tie the match 1-all, but Drexel claimed court six in a two set battle to regain the lead (2-1).
The Dragons then picked up another straight set win in slot No. 5 to increase their lead to 3-1.
Continuing to fight, Leon Harder got CofC its second point of the day with a 6-3, 7-6 (4) sweep on court two, while Jakub Solarski and Ram Mude both won second set tiebreaks to push their courts to an all-deciding third set.
Despite the tiebreak wins, Drexel won the final set on court three, 6-1, to clinch the match and defeat Charleston 4-2 in the CAA Championship quarterfinals.
Charleston ends the 2026 season 11-6, and the Cougars made it back to the CAA Championship for the first time since 2024.
