Four Cougar Men Place in Top 10 at JMU Invitational

New Market, Va. – Hayden DiBona and Jackson Wedge led a quartet of College of Charleston men who finished in the Top 10 at the JMU Invitational held Saturday morning at the New Market Battlefield course.
DiBona placed fifth with an 8K time of 27:18.3, edging Wedge to the finish line by just .03 seconds. Sam Beattie posted a time of 27:30.4 to take eighth, and Tyler Fish was ninth in 27:40.0. Ryan Moosbrugger rounded out the Cougar scorers with a 12th-place showing in 27:49.9.
Zac Palmer was 16th in his collegiate debut (28:07.9), one spot ahead of Evan Peirce (28:09.9).
Freshman Rhian Purves led the Charleston women in the 6K event, finishing 20th in a field of 60 runners with a time of 22:37.0. Two other first-year runners also scored for the Cougars, including Emily Dorony (23:36.6) and Amber Scott (24:04.3).
Cate Ambrose was the No. 2 Cougar runner, placing 28th in 23:03.1. Kristen Cherry finished with a time of 24:59.2
The Cougars are back in action on Friday, September 27 at the Queen City Invitational in Charlotte.
