Block Party! Cougars Stymie Bucs With 13 Blocks in Sweep

CHARLESTON, S.C. --- Peyton Eisnaugle, Claire Campbell and Kayla Demari combined for 25 kills and 15 block assists to lead College of Charleston to a straight-set sweep of Charleston Southern on Friday evening to open the Hampton Inn Charleston/West Ashley CofC Invitational.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Cougars' blocking corps combined for 13 blocks – including 10 in the first two sets – as the offense accounted for 42 kills and a .303 hitting percentage. Charleston stormed out of the gate with 17 kills, five blocks and a .485 hitting percentage in the first set and never looked back. Campbell, Eisnaugle and Demari finished the night with 25 kills between them while combining for a blistering .558 clip on the attack. Charleston held the Bucs to 34 kills, one service ace and a .147 hitting percentage on the night.
COUGAR OF THE MATCH
Redshirt freshman Claire Campbell powered the Cougars with eight kills on 13 swings without an error and hit .615 in the match. She was also involved in five of CofC's 13 blocks.

The Cougars will wrap up the weekend with two matches on Saturday when they take on Jacksonville State at 1:00 p.m. and New Orleans at 7:00 p.m. to conclude the Hampton Inn Charleston/West Ashley CofC Invitational.

- Lauren Freed nearly recorded a double-double with 12 digs and nine kills. The senior collected a career-high three solo blocks.
- Eisnaugle totaled nine kills on 14 swings and added five blocks.
- Junior libero Logan Manusky continued her strong play with a match-high 18 digs.
- Sophomore setter Brooke Harris contributed 18 assists and four digs.
- Amani Dunston dished out 21 assists in addition to four digs.
- Freshman Caroline Pender picked up her first collegiate ace in the third set.
- Redshirt junior Meghan Murphy chipped in three kills and four blocks off the bench.
