CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston Women's Golf Head Coach Jamie Futrell has inked three top Palmetto State recruits during the early signing period.
The Cougars signed Isabella Britt from Chesnee, S.C., Emma Schimpf from Daniel Island, S.C., and Mary Kathryn "MK" Talledo from Spartanburg, S.C.
"These three definitely have a chance to become the foundation of our future teams," Futrell said. "It is great to have some of the top players in South Carolina coming to The College."
Isabella Britt, Chesnee High School, Chesnee, S.C.
The 2019 South Carolina 3A Player of the Year and Region II-AAA Player of the Year, Britt was a two-time 3A all-state selection playing for Chesnee High School. She was ranked No. 3 in the Class of 2021 for the state of South Carolina. Britt finished third at the 2020 WSCGA Junior Girls State Championship.
"Bella is already a very accomplished player," Futrell said. "However, the most exciting thing is that Bella's best golf is still ahead of her. She has the physical skills to be a top-flite collegiate player."
Emma Schimpf, Oceanside Collegiate Academy, Daniel Island, S.C.
A two-time Class 3A South Carolina High School Individual Champion in 2019 and 2020 playing for Oceanside Collegiate Academy, Schimpf set the South Carolina High School League State Championship scoring record shooting 67-66—133 at the 2020 state tournament. She was named the Charleston Post and Courier Golfer of Year in 2019. During that same year, she qualified for both the U.S. Women's Amateur and the U.S. Junior Girls Championship. Schimpf also won the 2020 SCJGA Fall Challenge.
"Emma will have an immediate impact on our program," Futrell said. "With her being local, I have been able to watch her develop into a great player over the past few years. She has shown the ability to play at her best in the biggest events."
Mary Kathryn "MK" Talledo, Online School, Spartanburg, S.C.
The 2019 South Carolina Junior Golf Association Beth Daniel Player of the Year and two-time Upstate Golfer of the Year in 2018 and 2019, Talledo was a three-time 5A South Carolina all-state selection. Her lowest competitive round was a 63. Her career honors also include being tabbed a three-time 5A Region 2 Player of the Year.
"We are very excited to have someone of MK's caliber," Futrell said. "She is the defending South Carolina Junior Golfer of the Year. M''s talent and dedication to the game will make her a great collegiate player."
