Troy, Ala. – Chandler Sparkman tossed a three-hitter but was outdueled by Megan Gray as the College of Charleston dropped a 1-0 decision to Lipscomb on the final day of the Trojan Classic.

Sparkman struck out six, did not issue a walk and retired the final 16 batters she faced. Gray threw a one-hit shutout and fanned five for the Bisons.

The Cougars' lone baserunner came in the bottom of the first when Brittany Vicary singled and advanced to third on an error and wild pitch before being stranded. Lipscomb scored the only run in the second on a triple by Caitlin Turner and RBI single by Jenna Endris.

Following a fielder's choice, Jenna Helberg threw out a runner trying to steal second to end the inning, and Sparkman set the side down in order over the final five frames.

The Cougars return to action next weekend at the Battle at the Beach in Conway, S.C., beginning with a Friday contest against Northern Illinois.
