
CofC Equestrian Set for First Competition of 2021-22 at USC IHSA Horse Show

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The College of Charleston equestrian team is set to launch its 2021-22 campaign at the two-day University of South Carolina IHSA Show Oct. 9-10 in Blythewood, South Carolina.
The two-day event begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday and concludes Sunday. Head coach Natasha McCarthy is traveling 15 riders the season-opening competition.
Day One includes Kathleen Boyle making her debut in Introductory and newcomers Lily Borders and Roslyn Marano in Pre-Novice. Sophomore Natalie Juckett and senior Eleanore Fish will ride in the Novice competition.
Additionally, McLean Holmes, Morgan Phippen and Hailey Pendl will ride in the Limit Flat class, returners Grace Roberts and Katherine Zimmer in the Intermediate Flat class and Kate Coffey and Kathryn McCarthy in the Open Flat class. Coffey and McCarthy are also representing CofC in the Open Fences competition. McCarthy earned a Most Outstanding Player recognition at the program's Fall Scrimmage on Sept. 25.
Rounding out Day One, Zimmer and Lindsey Johnson are entered in the Limit Fences class and Emma Avent and Connelly Grant are riding in the Intermediate Fences class.
On Day Two, CofC's riders will mostly ride in the same competitions with a few event changes. Avent will ride in the Intermediate Flat class while Roberts will ride in the Intermediate Fences class. Additonally, Zimmer will join Coffey in Open Fences on Sunday.
