
Several PRs Fall at the Royals Challenge

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Five College of Charleston runners who scored set new PRs on Friday to lead the Cougar cross country teams at the Royals Challenge at Charlotte's McAlpine Park.
Cate Ambrose paced the women for the fourth time in as many meets this fall, taking 13th place with a 5k time of 17:44.8. Five CofC women finished in the Top 50 in a field of 294 runners to lead the Cougars to a third place showing out of 28 teams.
All five men who scored came in under 26:30 in the 8k race, led by Jackson Reid with a PR of 26:10.5.
Cougar Women
• Ambrose moved up two spots to fourth in CofC history in the 5k while establishing a PR for the second straight meet.
• Kristen Cherry (18:04.0) once again was second among the Cougars. Emily Dorony (18:22.4) and Sophia Brown (18:29.9) also set PRs while finishing 41st and 48th, respectively.
• Rhian Purves finished fourth on the team and 46th in the meet, crossing in 18:28.7.
• Also competing for the Cougars were Shannon Smith (19:21.0), Meike Kalus (19:35.6), Isabel Muehleman (19:46.6), Delaney O'Sullivan (21:39.2) and Grace McGrew (22:29.3).
Cougar Men
• Reid finished first among CofC runners for the second time this season, matching Jack Wedge, who was second on Friday (26:16.1).
• Hammer Blair had a PR with a time of 26:18.9 and was third among Cougar finishers. It is the second time that Blair has been in the top three.
• Rounding out the CofC scorers were Dylan McTigue (26:26.5) and Ryan Moosbrugger (26:28.7). Both have finished in the Top 5 in all four meets.
• Also competing for the Cougars were Nick Rienzo (27:20.8), Lucas Davis (27:54.6) and Joshua Keifer (28:32.4).

The Cougars are back in action next Saturday morning at the Upstate Invitational in Spartanburg, S.C.
