Propes inked an NLI to compete at CofC next fall
CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston Women's Golf signed Charleston native Raegan Propes to its 2022 recruiting class, head coach Jamie Futrell announced Wednesday. Propes inked a National Letter of Intent to play for The College next fall.
"Raegan has just begun to scratch the surface on her ability as a golfer," Futrell said. "She will bring great energy to our program. I look forward to watching her game progress in college."
Propes resides on Daniel Island where she made history at Ashley Hall School, becoming the first Panther to ever post a 9-hole match average in the 30s. Propes is also the first ever Division I signee in Ashley Hall history.
She was named the Panthers' MVP in six of the seven years she competed on the team, making the high school roster in sixth grade. Propes placed in the Top 8 in the state of South Carolina each of the past four seasons. She finished as high as fourth individually in 2021, earning SCISA All-State honors with a two-day score of 179.
This past August, Propes won the Charleston Classic Invitational with a two-day total of 141 to finish 3-under par. The Lowcountry native is embracing the opportunity to play close to home and still have the chance to play with her father in her free time but chose CofC for a variety of reasons.
"I chose the College of Charleston mainly because of all the opportunities it will provide for me," Propes said. "I'll be able to pursue a first-rate education while playing the sport I love. The CofC golf team will challenge and push me to become the best golfer I can be."
Propes plans to earn her way into The College's esteemed School of Business while beginning her academic pursuits as a marketing or communications major. She plans to get into sports broadcasting beyond her playing career.
CofC continues its 2021-22 season Feb. 6 at the UCF Challenge in Orlando, Fla. The Cougars closed an impressive fall season with three straight Top-4 finishes, including a team title at the Edisto Island Invitational.
