OPENING SERVE

Samford claimed the doubles point with wins in the second and third flights.
Kate Earnhardt and Eva Nyikos won 7-6 (7-3) in the top doubles pairing.
Nyikos evened the match at 1-1 with a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 2 singles.
Halli Trinkle gave the Cougars a 2-1 lead with a 6-4, 6-2 win in the third singles flight.
Slade Coetzee continued the momentum for Charleston with a 6-3, 6-3 decision at No. 1 singles for the Cougars' third point.
Victoria Walter and Peyton Brotzman each were unable to hang onto 1-0 advantages as both fell in three sets at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively.
Earnhardt delivered the decisive point for the Cougars with a gritty 7-6, 5-7, 7-5 win in the third singles flight.
