CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston track and field team heads back to Myrtle Beach this weekend to compete in the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational.
The Cougars will feature 17 athletes in 10 individual events as well as a pair of relays.
The throwers have provided most of the highlights through the first two meets of the season, including a school record in the javelin by freshman Areyanna Scott. Scott broke an eight-year-old CofC mark with a throw of 42.94m (140 feet, 10 inches) last week at the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge.
Haley Dempsey moved into fifth in the javelin at 38.13m (125-1), and Kimbra Owens took over the No. 8 spot in the discus with a performance of 38.11m (125-0).
