WILMINGTON, N.C. – Freshmen Areyanna Scott and Samantha Holbrook moved into the College of Charleston record book in their first career meet at the Seahawk Invitational on Saturday.
Scott had a javelin throw of 40.35m (132 feet, 4 inches) to finish in second place and debut in fourth in Cougar history. The performance was the best ever by a CofC freshman.
Holbrook took over the ninth spot in the hammer with a top mark of 42.13m (138-3), eclipsing her PR by 8.5 meters, and was eighth in the meet.
Freshman Kaitlynn Bailey had a pair of top eight finishes, taking seventh in the 200 (26.44) and eighth in the 100 (12.92).
The Cougars are back in action next week at the Coastal Carolina Invitational.
