GREENSBORO, N.C. – College of Charleston freshman Viktoria Hund (Bremen, Germany) was the individual runner-up at the Colonial Athletic Association Women's Golf Championship held at the Grandover Resort's East Course.
Hund shot 5-over par over the course of the three-day tournament one shot back of individual medalist Kendall Turner of James Madison (+4). It marked the rookie's second-best finish of the spring after earning Briar's Creek Invitational medalist honors on March 16.
Senior Olivia Hamilton (Oakenshaw, England) shot a team-low 72 with three birdies on the final day to tie Amelia Williams of JMU for third (+8). It marked a career-best individual finish for Hamilton.
James Madison won the team title and conference's automatic bid to the 2021 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship with a three-round score of 897 (+33) and a five-shot victory over runner-up Charleston (+38). Delaware was third (+52), Elon fourth (+62), Towson fifth (+75), William & Mary sixth (+87) and Hofstra seventh (+160).
"This was a very disappointing loss," CofC Head Coach Jamie Futrell said. "Credit to JMU for playing well, but we handed it to them with a bow on top. Hopefully, the returners will learn from this experience. Olivia Hamilton was awesome today in her last collegiate round."
