CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's golf team makes its eighth postseason appearance in program history when it competes in the NCAA Louisville Regional on May 10-12 in Simpsonville, Ky.
The three-round tournament will be held at the par-72, 6,289-yard University of Louisville Golf Club. The top six teams and three low individuals not on an advancing team from each regional will advance to the national tournament on May 21-26 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
The Cougars will be vying for a trip to the NCAA National Championship against a field that includes the host Cardinals, Arkansas, Auburn, Fairleigh Dickinson, Florida State, James Madison, Mercer, Michigan State, North Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Texas Tech, UCF, UCLA, UTSA and Xavier.
All eight of CofC's regional berths have come under head coach Jamie Futrell, including trips in 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2014, 2015 and 2018. This is the seventh straight year the Cougars have been represented either as a team or by an individual in NCAA postseason competition.
"We are very excited to be in Louisville competing in the NCAA Regional," said Futrell. "The team seems to be in good form heading into the tournament. We will need to get adjusted to the Kentucky Blue grass, which plays a little different than our Bermuda grass in Charleston. If we do that, I think we have a chance to be very competitive this week."
CofC earned its fourth at-large bid and first for the Colonial Athletic Association since 2008 on the strength of a spring season that included a victory against a strong field at the Briar's Creek Invitational. CofC also had three second-place finishes and was the runner-up to JMU at the CAA Championship.
The Cougar lineup will include freshman Viktoria Hund, who finished second at the CAA Championship and was the medalist at the Briar's Creek Invitational. Victoria Huskey, who was sixth at the conference tournament, Othilie Lied, Jodee Tindal and Emily Dunlap round out the CofC five.
Huskey is the only Cougar with previous NCAA Tournament experience. She was on the 2018 team that played in the Tallahassee Regional and qualified as an individual for the Auburn Regional the following year, finishing in a tie for 23rd en route to being named the CAA Women's Golfer of the Year.
