CHARLESTON, S.C. – A total of 22 College of Charleston athletes, including 12 who are in the school record book, will compete in the CAA Track and Field Championships beginning Friday at Sentara Park in Harrisonburg, Va.
The field events should provide several scoring opportunities for the Cougars. Luzy Lieger enters the meet ranked second in the conference in the pole vault with a school-record mark of 3.90m (12 feet, 9 ½ inches).
Chloe Christian is right behind Lieger in CofC history with a top performance of 3.80m (12-5 ½), a mark which placed her third at the 2019 conference meet.
Areyanna Scott sits atop the school record book and ranks fifth in the CAA this season with a long throw of 42.94m (140-14) in the javelin, and Haley Dempsey is fifth in school history and ninth in the CAA at 38.13m (125-1).
Stephanie Laudien is looking to score in the triple jump for the third time in her career after finishing seventh in 2018 and sixth the following year. Her mark of 11.82m (38-9 ½) is fourth in Cougar annals.
Kimbra Owens ranks eighth in school history in the discus (38.11m, 125-0), and Samantha Holbrook is ninth in the hammer (42.13m, 138-3).
