Richmond, Va. – Incoming College of Charleston freshman Mary Kathryn Talledo became the second College of Charleston women's golfer to qualify for the U.S. Women's Amateur in August. Talledo joins Emma Schimpf, a fellow incoming freshman, who qualified earlier this month.
Talledo shot a one over par 72 at Lakeside Park Club to finish 2nd of 22 players in the qualifier. Talledo earned one of the two available qualifying spots on the day.
"Congrats to MK on making the U.S. Women's Amateur," head coach Jamie Futrell said. "She will gain valuable experience by playing in the event. This caps off what has been a very good summer for her. Having two incoming players from our team make the U.S. Women's Amateur speaks volumes for our potential in the upcoming years."
The U.S. Amateur will be held at Westchester Country Club in Rye, N.Y. on August 2-8.
