COUGAR CLASSIC PROGRAM
CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston women's golf team opens its 2021-22 campaign at the 2021 Cougar Classic on Monday. The nationally renowned tournament runs Sept. 13-14 at Yeamans Hall Club in Charleston, S.C. with 36 holes on Monday and a final round of 18 holes on Tuesday.
Head coach Jamie Futrell returns five key contributors from last year's team that earned an at-large bid to an NCAA Regional – the fourth at-large bid in program history. Seniors Jodee Tindal and Kirsty Brodie and sophomores Viktoria Hund, Emily Dunlap and Othilie Lied, who all played pivotal roles in the Cougars' run to the NCAA Tournament and a second-place finish at the 2021 CAA Championship last spring, are back for the 2021-22 campaign.
The star-studded returning crew is joined by talented South Carolina transfer Smith Knaffle and a trio of gifted freshmen in Mary Kathryn Talledo, Emma Schimpf and Isabella Britt (all South Carolina natives). CofC launches the new season against a loaded 17-team field that includes 14 programs from Power 5 conferences.
The tournament at Yeamans Hall Club is open to the public and admission is free. Play begins Monday morning with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start after the tournament officially tees off with a special bagpipes ceremony. Face masks are required inside the clubhouse.
