
Cross Country Teams Set to Compete at Firetower Project

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston men's and women's cross country teams are back in action Friday at the Firetower Project hosted by Appalachian State.
The races will be held at the Don Kennedy Trails in Boone, N.C. The women's 5k begins at 4 p.m., and the men's 8k is set for 4:45.
Cougar Women
• The Cougars got off to a strong start by finishing second at the Buccaneer Invitational with five runners placing in the Top 15.
• Cate Ambrose just missed winning the individual title, with her 5k time of 18:33.7 coming within .2 seconds of the medalist.
• Kristen Cherry was fourth (18:52.9), and freshman Sophia Brown scored for the Cougars in her collegiate debut (19:40.8).
Cougar Men
• Jackson Reid paced the men by taking 16th in the 6k race (20:21.4). The sophomore has led the Cougars in two of his three career races.
• Jack Wedge (20:23.0), Hammer Blair (20:49.9) and Ryan Moosbrugger (20:51.2) finished 17th, 19th and 20th, respectively.
• Freshman Dylan McTigue contributed points as the fifth Cougar, coming in 23rd overall (20:59.5).

The Cougars are off next weekend before competing in the Chanticleer Challenge on Oct. 1 in Conway, S.C.
