Play begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Old Town Club
CHARLESTON, S.C. --- After its season-opening tournament was washed out and canceled by weather, the College of Charleston men's golf team officially launches its 2021-22 campaign on Monday in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The Cougars are set to compete in the 54-hole Old Town Club Collegiate Invitational at the Old Town Club.
No. 17 Wake Forest is hosting the Par-70, 14-team event that features 36 continuous holes on Monday and 18 final holes on Tuesday. Monday's action begins at 7:30 a.m. with a shotgun start. The field includes CofC, Davidson, Duke, ECU, Kansas State, Kentucky, Loyola (Md.), Penn State, Rutgers, SMU, Southern Miss, UNC-Greensboro, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.
Head coach Mitch Krywulycz begins his fourth campaign at the helm after earning Colonial Athletic Association Coach of the Year honors last spring and leading the squad to a CAA Championship. Krywulycz will roll with the same lineup that was set to begin the season at the Battle at Briar's Creek before it was canceled.
Talented freshmen Nevill Ruiter and Kieron van Wyk will start the campaign in the 1 and 2 spots at the OTC Collegiate Invite. Graduate transfer Jack Parrott, who brings a wealth of high-level tournament experience from the University of South Carolina, is in the third slot. Rounding out the Cougars' lineup is George Washington transfer Ty Sullivan and sophomore Zach Reuland. Reuland won the individual CAA title last spring as a freshman.
The tournament at Old Town Club is open to the public and admission is free.
