
Cougars Turn in Strong Performance at Buccaneer Invitational

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Five College of Charleston women placed in the Top 15 while the men had four runners in the Top 20 at the Buccaneer Invitational on Saturday.
Cate Ambrose turned a second-place finish to lead the women, and Jackson Reid took 16th to pace the men. The women were second in the team standings while the men were third.
Cougar Women
• Ambrose just missed taking top individual honors, with her time of 18:33.7 in the 5k race just .2 behind the winner.
• Kristen Cherry began her senior year on a high note, finishing fourth in 18:52.9.
• Rhian Purves (19:27.2) and Shannon Smith (19:40.6) took 11th and 14th, respectively. Sophia Brown was 15th in her collegiate debut, crossing in 19:40.8 to round out the Cougar scorers.
• Two other CofC runners – Isabel Muehleman (17th, 19:59.3) and Morgan Summey (18th, 20:03.4) – finished in the Top 20.
Cougar Men
• Jackson Reid paced the CofC men by taking 16th in the 6k race with a time of 20:21.4.
• Close behind Reid were Jack Wedge (17th, 20:23.0), Hammer Blair (19th, 20:40.9) and Ryan Moosbrugger (20th, 20:51.2).
• Freshman Dylan McTigue was the fifth Cougar to score, coming in 23rd in his first collegiate race with a time of 20:59.5.

"I thought we had a solid start. We have a lot of work ahead of us, but I am pleased with the effort we put in today. There are a lot of bright spots to take away, particularly the way we worked as a team. We will focus on these positives as we aim to improve from one week to the next."
